January 2026

January 2026

I always use January as a time to slow down and take a break from ceramic production. I set the intention to work in the studio without solely creating ceramics, instead exploring other artistic media, including block printing. I keep a notebook nearby, sketching out new ideas and jotting down thoughts for upcoming seasons or designs I’ve been wanting to try.

It’s important for my brain to reconnect with my hands—that quiet space is where creativity sparks. Lately, I’ve been working with handmade papers I made last year, turning them into a series of greeting card designs. There’s something special about receiving snail mail; it feels almost like a lost art.

As part of this slower January rhythm, I’m making twelve greeting cards to send by mail. It feels like a small but intentional way to stay connected—to the work, to the process, and to the people who support it.

If you’d like to be included, your name can be entered and I’ll randomly select the recipients. (please send me a DM on my Instagram account before Stephaniekraussverdun)
